The United States once again warned African countries against cooperating with Wagner

After Wagner's soldiers rebelled against Russian President Vladimir Putin over the weekend, the US warned African countries again about what it called the risk of getting close to Wagner's mercenaries.

Matthew Miller, a spokesman for the US Department of State, said that this is the kind of thing that gets countries' attention because, according to him, Wagner has killed people and destroyed a lot of property in every country he has been in.

Wagner's mercenary troops are becoming more common in Africa. The military government of Mali hired them and helped Russia with diplomatic issues when its relationship with France, a colonial power, got worse.

In a report that came out last month, the Human Rights Commission of the United Nations said that Wagner's troops killed at least 500 people in March 2022 in the town of Moura in the centre of Mali.

During a meeting with Sergei Lavrov, Russia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, he said that the revolt of Wagner's mercenaries in the country would not stop them from working to bring peace to Mali and the Central African Republic.

Lavrov said that the European Union and France have taken their hands off the country's security problems, which are now in the hands of Russia and Wagner's army.
