There are rumors about the new Nigeria Air flight
In July 2018, the former Minister of Civil Aviation of Nigeria, Hadi Sirika, announced the plan to revive the country's airline that had collapsed in recent years.
Nigerians are debating the words of the acting Managing Director of Nigeria Air Capt. Dapo Olumide said that the plane that was presented to the citizens as the company's new plane in Abuja, was leased from Ethiopian Airlines.
Mr Olumide said this on Tuesday before members of the committee that oversees air transport of the Senate of Nigeria.
He added that they hired the plane just to launch it before the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari handed over power to the new administration.
In July 2018, the former Minister of Civil Aviation of Nigeria, Hadi Sirika, announced the plan to revive the country's airline that had collapsed in recent years.
During a meeting on aviation in London, the minister revealed that they have the logo of the new company Nigeria Air.
Since then, the people of the country have continued to watch to see the day when the new train will start operating, but then things continued to drag on.
This is what made some Nigerians question the plan, especially considering how they did not fly the plane for more than four years.
In the last days of the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, the new Nigeria Air was launched at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja with the name that it will start taking passengers after a few days.
However, since then, some citizens have started to question the issue, especially on social media.
This is what made Mr. Olumide's comments to raise eyebrows among the citizens who said that the plane was launched as a "fraud".
However, Malam Bashir Ahmad, a former special assistant to the former President, Muhammadu Buhari, said there was no deception about the launch of the plane.
'I'm amazed'
Many Nigerians have been commenting on the internet about the issue, where they expressed different views especially on Twitter.
Another Twitter user, Kebuud Tyrant @yrnehh said: "I would be very surprised if it was said that we actually bought the plane."
There is Always Humble @chinomsoOrakwu2 who said: "Do these people fear God. If their secrets are revealed, they will say they are hated, so why don't they love the truth? Look at the shame that followed. ."
On the other hand, Muhammad Abubakar @mohamme39845158, who defended the former government, said "Nigeria Air is not a fraud. The Minister of Transport has done a lot to ensure that it is created. His name was launched with partners and an agreement was signed. The certificate of approval has been received and it has started operations and its offices have been opened. Nigeria Air will start operations and will make Nigeria proud," he said.
However, Olapoju Maxwell @pjmaxwell1905 responded to Muhammad. "If Nigeria Air is not a fraud, but using another country's aircraft under their name is a fraud," he said.
Lawal Ishaq @lawishaq: "This man has no shame and should be fired if he can't keep his job. Nonsense!"
Finally there is Ibrahim Dembo @ibrahim_ud who also spoke. "Nigerians need a thorough investigation into this matter."
But in a message he posted on his Twitter page, Bashir Ahmad said, "NigeriaAir is not a fraud, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has made significant progress in confirming it...NigeriaAir will work to be a source of pride." for Nigeria."
