Those involved in the coup attempt in Brazil must be punished, the government said
Flavio Dino, Brazil's Minister of Justice, said that those who are trying to plan a coup to stop President Lula de Silva from taking over the country's leadership must be punished at the start of this year.
Reports said that he said this after finding a file of information in the phone of Mauro Cid, who worked for Jair Bolsonaro when he was president.
After Mr. Lula won the election in October, Mr. Dino said that the numbers showed that a military coup was becoming more likely.
Local news outlets in Brazil said that a coup was going to happen to put in place a temporary president right away.
