Ukraine is almost ready to join NATO.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Ukraine is about to join the Western security group for the first time in the last 10 years.
He also asked for "a system to ensure the security of Ukraine in the future" once the war with Russia is over.
After the meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels, Stoltenberg said that the countries in the Atlantic region have agreed to "work to create a parliament of Ukraine and NATO" where Ukraine's stance will be "the same as that of the member states."
Stoltenberg also said that the NATO security group is concerned about Russia's plan to send anti-nuclear weapons to Belarus, and that Moscow's risky words are being taken seriously.
Some sources told the news agency Reuters that the ministers couldn't agree on the group's first security plan since the end of the Cold War.
