A forest fire broke out in Hatay province of Turkey

Rescue personnel are working to put out a forest fire that started on Sunday in Turkey's Hatay province.

Since it started, the fire, according to the authorities, has destroyed seven homes and four vehicles, endangering adjacent residents.

600 people were reportedly saved by officials who took them away from their homes and to another area.

Ten helicopters have been provided for the rescue effort, the province's governor Ali Hamza announced on his Twitter page.

To assist in putting out the fire, more than 500 officials joined the rescue effort in the province.
