Akpabio and Abbas would present NASS principal officials to Tinubu despite APC national chairman Abdullahi Adamu's protest.

Even though the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is against it, the leaders of the National Assembly will give the new top leaders to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu today (Wednesday) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Remember that on Tuesday, Senate President Godswill Akpabio named Senator Opeyemi Bamidele (APC-Ekiti) as Senate Leader, Sen. David Umahi (APC-Ebonyi) as Deputy Leader, Sen. Mohammed Ndume (APC-Borno) as Chief Whip, and Sen. Lola Ashiru (APC-Kwara) as Deputy Chief Whip.

Akpabio also chose Mwadkwon Davou, a lawmaker from Plateau North, to be the Minority Leader. Senator Kamorudeen Olarere, from the PDP in Osun West, became the Deputy Minority Leader.

Also, Darlington Nwokeocha (LP Abia Central) was named Minority Whip, and Rufai Hanga (NNPP Kano Central) was named Deputy Minority Whip.

Speaker Tajudeen Abass told the House of Representatives that Julius Ihonvbere would be the House Leader, Abdullahi Halims would be the Deputy House Leader, Usman Kumo would be the Chief Whip, and Adewunmi Onanuga would be the Deputy Whip.

The Speaker also chose Kingsley Chinda as the Minority House Leader, Ali Madaki as the Deputy House Leader, Ali Isa as the Minority House Chief Whip, and George Ozodinobi as the Deputy Whip.

An APC leader who spoke to The Nation on the condition of secrecy said that President Tinubu will meet with the National Assembly's new top leaders on Wednesday (today).

He also said that the Presidency and the Progressives Governors Forum support Akpabio and Abbas on the harmonized list of main officers.

He said, "The harmonized list of principal officers has the support of the Presidency and the Progressives Governors Forum."

"The APC caucuses in the National Assembly agreed on a list of the top officers in a friendly way, and no one can stop it."Even though there were problems with Sen. Ali Ndume being the second-highest ranked Senator after Dr. Ahmad Lawan, Senators got the Borno South Senator to agree to work under Sen. Bamidele. Ndume gave in to pressure and agreed to be the Chief Whip of the Senate.

"As the national head of the party, Adamu can't change what the APC caucuses in the Senate and House of Representatives have decided. The APC Constitution does not give him this kind of power.

"The National Assembly has decided to give President Tinubu a list of its new top leaders on Wednesday (today).

"Adamu said that communication wasn't good enough, but he shouldn't have gone so far as to overrule the National Assembly in public about who should be the top officers."
