Court Affirms CONUA And NAMDA As Legitimate Trade Unions
ASUU has appeared in court in an effort to have its rival community organizations, CONUA and (NAMDA), banned.
The National Industrial Court has determined that CONUA and NAMDA are autonomous organizations that are recognized as trade unions and have the right to carry out their own operations in a lawsuit between the Nigerian government and ASUU. their actions at Nigerian institutes of higher learning.

When delivering the ruling, Judge Benedict Kanyip emphasized that it is acceptable to have many trade unions working for the same business in accordance with ILO regulations.
The judge also emphasized that the third part of paragraph 2 of the trade union laws prohibits the first and second defendants from registering CONUA unions and that NAMDA should simultaneously carry out the same activities as the petitioner, ASUU, in contrast to the evidence cited by the plaintiff.
