Ethnic Conflict Caused the Death of Two People in Taraba State

Following an ethnic dispute that resulted in at least two deaths and the burning of more than seven villages, which resulted in property loss, the Taraba state government proclaimed a state of emergency in the Karim Lamido local government.

One of the victims and one of the area's traditional leaders, Alhaji Tanko Babbo Abbo Andami, claimed that they learned of the attack at around 2:00 in the morning and that one child had died and the other had to be moved to another hospital because it was already crowded.

At least seven villages were set on fire by the assailants, which forced some residents to flee to Jalingo town, the Taraba state capital.

According to SP Usman Abdullahi's spokesperson, the Taraba State Police Force has confirmed the incident that resulted in the deaths of the two people and the fire.

Alhaji Ahmed Umar Karim, a native of Karimjo town and one of those present when the incident occurred, claimed that the issue originated as a result of the previous state government's nomination of the Emir of Wurkun following the death of the previous Emir.
