FETO terrorists continue to find refuge in America and Germany, seven years after the coup attempt

The United States and Germany have not yet taken significant actions to bring back the head of FETO or the members of the Turkish organisation, despite repeated requests from Ankara.

Fahrettin Altun, the country's director of communications, made a specific appeal to the world community to come together in order to fight against the FETO terrorist group during a debate this week to commemorate the 15th of July, when there was an unsuccessful coup attempt in Turkey.

In 2016, FETO commanders orchestrated a coup attempt by dissatisfied soldiers that resulted in the deaths of over 250 civilians and thousands of injuries.

In a video he released, Altun reminded the world that those who call themselves "friends" of Turkey have kept their mouths shut when the citizens of the country are defending their democracy. "FETO is an international terrorist group, and like fighting other terrorist groups, the world should unite to fight it," said Altun.

Altun gave an explanation of his decision-making process.

Since the failed coup, Turkey has been the only country waging this war against terrorists. This includes using diplomatic techniques to guarantee that those responsible for this heinous act be extradited from the nations where they have sought asylum.

The two countries that provide the most refuge to FETO terrorists, including the group's leader Fetullah Gulen, are the United States and Germany.

Despite having enough evidence to prosecute him, the United States did not do what was necessary to look into him and his business dealings.

TRT World has examined the nations that provide the most asylum to those who are most wanted by Ankara worldwide:

America has turned into a haven

Many FETO members have found refuge in the United States; the majority of them left Turkey after failing to seize control of it militarily.

The most sought-after FETO member, Fetullah Gulen, has resided in the US since 1999.

One of Gulen's right-hand men and a real estate agent, Cevdet Turkyolu is among the top FETO members residing in the US.

In addition, Turkyolu, who resides in Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania, serves as Gulen's "secretary" and plans gatherings at the Golden Generation Chestnut Park.

A camp called Camp Retreat is encircled by trees.

Turkey thinks Turkyolu is in control of the group's financial activities and that Gulen is giving him instructions to make millions of dollars in investments in the private sector.

One of the primary FETO propagandists, Aydogan Vatandas, runs the Twitter account "Fuat Avni," where he is identified as Fetullah Gulen's "follower."

The Fuat Avni Twitter account is used by FETO to broadcast information collected through public intelligence. Vatandas, who is under investigation for allegedly running a terrorist group in Istanbul, is reportedly one of the administrators of the account.

Vatandas confirmed that he had been found, so he turned on his captors and, with the aid of FETO operatives, fled across Germany to the United States.

The international police believe Emre Uslu, a wanted criminal, is currently residing in the United States.

He is currently residing in a home in Fairfax, Virginia that he is claimed to have purchased after making his way out of Turkey.

One of the female spies that helped infiltrate the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) is Tuncay Opcin, a FETO criminal who also resides in the United States.

The Germans' hypocrisy

It is undeniable that some well-known members of the FETO group, including Abdullah Aymaz and Mehmet Ali Sengul, who are wanted by Turkey on terrorism-related charges, have sought asylum in Germany.

Aymas has a role in Fetullah Gulen's organisation. Aymas began his affiliation with FETO when Gulen was not well-liked in Izmir.

Aymaz is connected to a Feto group leader and "European priest" who is in charge of looking after the majority of the group's local adherents.

Aymaz published a piece in a Feto-affiliated newspaper a few months prior to the 2016 coup attempt that hinted at the likelihood of a coup.

He escaped Turkey just before a botched coup attempt. Mehmet Ali Sengul, a top member of the terrorist organisation who reportedly will succeed Fethullah Gulen, resides in Germany.

Adil Oksuz is another person associated with FETO and the 2016 coup attempt who is thought to be evading capture in Germany.

The coup attempt's organiser is thought to have been Oksuz.

Following the coup attempt, Oksuz was reportedly temporarily residing in Berlin, according to Anadolu news agency.

They include Zekeriya Oz, Fikret Secen, Celal Secen, and Ilham Polat.
