FIBA U19: Turkey beat the United States and came third in the World Basketball Championship

Turkey earned bronze in the FIBA tournament for the second time in the competition's history, having finished third the first time in 2015.

The Turkish under-19 men's basketball team advanced to the third round of the FIBA World Championship after defeating the American squad 84-70.

Turkey participated against the United States in the competition on Sunday in Debrecen, Hungary. The United States was the most successful nation in the tournament and had won the Challenge Cup eight times.

Turkish Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Askin Bak remarked, "I congratulate our players and their coaches who helped to achieve this victory."

He continued, "I hope that the success of these young brothers of mine, who came third in the world after fighting hard and being brave, will continue, and that it will give us confidence in the future."

The Turkish squad got off to a strong start, winning 25-18 at the end of the first quarter and 39-33 at the half.

She obtained a second FIBA bronze medal.

Turkey took home the bronze medal for the second time in the competition's history after placing third in 2015.

Tan Yldzolu, who received mak, was one of the Turkish players who contributed greatly.
