 Google Scholarship
for African Students in Cybersecurity 2023 Updates

Google Scholarship To fill the cybersecurity skills gap in Sub-Saharan Africa, Google is introducing an online certificate programme on Coursera. The course, which offers 2,000 scholarships, will increase economic growth and digital transformation by giving students access to in-demand computer skills.

Our previous credentials in data analytics, digital marketing & e-commerce, IT support, project management, and UX design are all supplemented by this one. Along with building on Google's entry-level Data Analytics Certificate, we also recently introduced two advanced certificates in Advanced Data Analytics and Business Intelligence.

In Sub-Saharan Africa, the Google Professional Certificates programme has graduated over 20,000 individuals, and more than 80% of these individuals reported a positive professional impact, such as a new job, improved income, or promotion within six months of completion.

We introduced Interview Warmup, a product that uses AI to assist job candidates in interview preparation, last year. We are also eager to share the experiences of alumni from Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa, respectively, Aima, Judith, and Zizipho, who have benefited from the Career Certificates programme.

We believe that this new credential will complement our ongoing efforts to bridge the cybersecurity skills gap and enable job seekers in Africa to both address regional issues and take advantage of global opportunities.

The Purpose and Advantages of the Google Cybersecurity Scholarship

Learning how to recognise typical risks, threats, and vulnerabilities as well as the methods to mitigate them will be covered in the cybersecurity certificate.

Additionally, they will receive practical expertise with tools for Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Linux, Python, and SQL.

Together with our distribution partners, ICT Authority in Kenya, The Roothub in Nigeria, and RLabs in South Africa, who all have robust workforce development programmes to reach learners, give them access to the Cybersecurity certificate, and support them on their learning journey, we will be offering 2,000 scholarships.
