The governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mala Buni CON, has directed the state's departments of works and environment to intensify their efforts to prevent flooding, as advised by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).
The governor stated that the measures already in place must be tightened because there is very little chance that the state will experience the heavy rains and flooding predicted by the Meteorological Agency (NIMET) in the future. The governor's statement to the press was signed by Mamman Mohammed, Director General of Media Affairs and Journalists of Governor Buni.
In order to take action to lessen the flood, he also gave instructions for the concerned ministries and their agencies to get in touch with the state government's secretary's office.
"Measures must be efficient and well-balanced to reduce flooding effectively and protect our communities," added Buni.
He claims that the government is dedicated to supplying the tools required to address this issue of potential floods.
According to Governor Buni, "The government will meet with the communities that are affected by the floods to fight against this epidemic of floods."
To secure their safety, he urged the populace to work with the administration and adhere to the recommendations of experts.
The government needs the assistance of our city dwellers, therefore they should clean the waterways in front of their homes.
The governor urged people not to construct structures that might obstruct waterways in order to avert flooding in their homes and others'.
Additionally, Governor Buni commanded the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to be completely equipped to handle any unforeseen issues.
