How Ghana is struggling with builders under the electric phone
According to Ghanaian officials, no structures or container stores should be built or established less than 5.5 metres from where an electric phone is installed.
Ghana's NADCO, the national disaster management organisation, has urged its citizens to refrain from erecting structures or container businesses underneath electrical lines.
This was said by Nana Obaoka Joseph, the chief executive officer of the Kadjebi District, in an interview with the GNA news agency in the Oti region.
He claimed that because the electric cables connecting the telephones are heavy, they could at any time collapse to the ground or start a fire if the wires are connected to one another.
Because "the lives of people who live in such places are in danger" and could result in their deaths, he urged the town's residents and the rest of the Ghanaians who live beneath the power lines to stop.
In order to prevent the worst from happening, Nana Obaoka Joseph said that a container shop should be erected or placed 5.5 metres away from the power line.
Buildings next to electricity lines are extremely risky, according to him, as doing so could result in a fire that injures or kills people and damages property.
