JUST IN: Kano loses two former commissioners who served under Ganduje

In the last three days, Kano State has lost two former commissioners who served under Abdullahi Umar Ganduje's previous administration.

The former commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhassan Muhammad Dawaki, passed away on Friday after a brief illness. He had 15 offspring and 15 wives when he passed away at the age of 79.

The same day in Abuja, Barrister Zubaida Damakka, the former commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, passed away following a brief illness. She died at the age of 55, leaving behind a spouse and three children.

On Sunday, Kano held their funeral prayers in accordance with Islamic customs.

In a statement, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf offered his sympathies to the families of the deceased. Dawaki was described by him as a "prominent figure and well respected personality" whose abrupt departure had left many people feeling empty.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf lamented the enormous loss that Dawaki's passing signified and prayed for the enduring fortitude and comfort of the bereaved family during the trying time of grief.
