Many people died in Cameroon due to the collapse of a floor

This Sunday, a building collapse in the Douala business district of Cameroon resulted in at least 12 fatalities and 21 injuries.

A four-story structure fell in the north of Douala at around one in the morning, according to firefighters and municipal officials.

A councillor in the Douala local administration, Charles Elie Zang Zang, stated that rescuers are searching for lives beneath the building's wreckage.

13 patients were admitted to the Laquintinie Hospital in Douala, where a three-year-old girl and a 19-year-old woman passed away.

At the children's ward, three of the injured kids are getting urgent care.

Building collapses are notoriously common in Cameroon, particularly in the metropolis of Douala. Up to five persons in Douala perished in identical circumstances in 2016.

Local authorities identified 500 structures that are at risk of collapsing in June of this year.
