Nigeria: Amnesty International Appoints Isa Sanusi as Country Director
Isa Sanusi, a former journalist from Yobe State, has been appointed as Amnesty International's national director for human rights.
Isa Sanusi will oversee the expansion of the organization's research, advocacy, and campaigning efforts in Nigeria, with an emphasis on conflicts, according to a statement from the chairman of the board of trustees of Amnesty International in Nigeria, Auwal Musa Rafsanjani. Gender, climate change, and youth involvement in the promotion and protection of human rights are all addressed in human rights education.
Isa Sanusi had been working for Amnesty International in Nigeria as the organization's media and communications manager since 2016. He spent ten years as a journalist for the BBC news department before that, and he also served as an assistant editor for the Daily Trust.
The new Amnesty International Director has also overseen numerous human rights initiatives and trained human rights advocates throughout Nigeria. by way of the University of London's Birkbeck College.
"Isa Sanusi has been a valuable member of the team for many years and has contributed significantly to the successful management of significant human rights projects.
In order to advance human rights and make sure that both oppressors and the oppressed are happy to have the chance to use them fairly, Amnesty International Nigeria will now enter a new stage of development, according to Auwal Musa Rafsanjani. This stage will involve working with civil society organisations, human rights defenders, and activists.
