Nigeria: A curfew has been imposed in Taraba due to ethnic conflict

Beginning on Sunday, July 2, the Karim Lamido town, the seat of the Karim Lamid local government, and its surroundings are under a 24-hour curfew enforced by the Taraba state government of Nigeria.

According to accounts, the declaration of this law followed the escalation of ethnic warfare in various local government areas, which claimed the lives of more than 30 people.

Yusuf Sanda, the state governor's press secretary, stated in a statement that the security forces have been given the chance to ensure that this rule is followed, with the provision of harsh penalty for any who do not.

Usamn Jada, the state police force's spokesperson, verified the occurrence that prompted the enactment of this law and stated that the force is adequately equipped to maintain peace and order within the local government and its environs.
