President Bio's party won the majority in the Sierra Leone parliament

According to the National Electoral Commission's announcement on Saturday, the ruling party in Sierra Leone has won 60% of the seats in the National Assembly. At the same time, the opposition party needs to hold another round of elections. President Julius Maad Bio received two votes in the election.

The incumbent SLPP won 81 seats, while the opposition APC got 54 seats, according to the election results read out by the commission's head, Mohamed Kenewui Konneh.

According to the results, the SLPP gained seven out of ten seats in the Kono district, where it has never lost a seat before, as well as in the northern and western areas, particularly in the capital city of Freetown, which has five seats. The SLPP, the opposition party, had a significant impact.

After receiving 51% of the votes cast, the APC, which at first refused to accept the election results due to claims of mistakes in some districts, is still in power as mayor of Freetown.

Due to claims of election fraud, the APC party also declared that it would not join the government.
