President Erdogan said he expects the grain export agreement to be extended again

President Erdogan announced that Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin will visit Turkey in August, and he anticipates that the grain export pact, which was established following the outbreak of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, would be extended.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the president of Turkey, stated that he anticipates the parties to the Mediterranean Sea grain export deal, which expires on Monday, to extend it further.

"We have scheduled a meeting with (Russian President Vladimir) Putin for August in Turkey. We are in favour of extending the grain export agreement for the Mediterranean.

"Putin received a letter from Antonio (Guterres, UN Secretary General). According to President Erdogan's press conference following Friday's prayer in Santambul, "we anticipate that with the help of Russia, we will receive confirmation of the further extension of the grain export agreement with this document."

According to President Erdogan, who said that President Putin had also agreed, this will aid in resolving the issues facing the poorest nations in Africa.

Putin has attempted to provide grain to underdeveloped nations for free in the past.

In February 2022, Turkey, the UN, and Ukraine will begin grain exports from three Mediterranean ports that had been halted following the war with Russia, according to an agreement that was struck in Istanbul last year.

To oversee the shipment of the grain, a joint centre has been established in Istanbul with representatives from the three nations and the United Nations.

In August, the first grain cargo under the historic deal departed from the Ukrainian port of Odesa.

The world has praised Turkey for its role in serving as a mediator between Ukraine and Russia, and the nation has repeatedly urged Kiev and Moscow to settle their dispute through mediation.

However, Russian authorities have begun speculating that the endeavour to extend the grain export deal needs to be stopped this month because some of the promises of the agreement have not been kept in terms of shipments from Russia.
