Senator Lamido Gives 40 Million Naira to Sokoto State Students

Senator Ibrahim Lamido, who represents the Sokoto East Constituency, has awarded 1,315 impoverished residents of his district who are studying at Usmanu Danfodiyo University in Sokoto scholarships totaling 40 million Naira.

Speaking to the Sokoto students who had benefited from the program, Lamido stated that he was determined to fight poverty in his area.

Malam Sani Bala spoke for the senator, who added, "A committee evaluated the kids in every district in the state's eastern region.

"Extensive research was used to identify the kids who benefited from the program. Once the information is gathered, the funds will be given to the students who received the financial assistance.

"The state government has already contributed half of the more than 80 million Naira that the assessed students are anticipated to pay the university. As of right now, Senator Lamido has covered half the cost of the students' continued education, he claimed.

Speaking to the media, some of the program's recipients referred to the assistance as a lifesaver for them to continue their education.
