Sokoto Government Begins Paying Special Needy Allowance\

Ahmed Aliyu, the governor of Sokoto state, has kept the promise he made to the state's crippled residents during the election campaign to begin providing them with a monthly allowance of 6,500 naira.

Abubakar Bawa, the governor's press secretary, claimed in a statement that the funds were transferred simultaneously amongst various organisations.

He claimed that "three centres in Sokoto North, Dange Shuni local government, and Gwadabawa local government were distributed among them where people with special needs came out very much to receive the monthly allowance."

Bawa claimed that because life is getting better, the governor will keep trying to make it easier and less difficult for those with special needs.

Some of the awardees thanked Governor Ahmed Aliyu for reinstating the system of awarding them monthly allowances during interviews.

One of the recipients from Sokoto's northern centre, Abubakar Suleiman, told our correspondent that it will take a lot of time for the support to improve their life.

He stated, "Returning the monthly allowance will undoubtedly reduce the number of beggars on the streets."

To ensure that the system of monthly allowances is restored to better the lives of the disabled, the governor has established a special committee.
