The APC appointed Kyari as its acting president


Following Senator Abdullahi Adamu's resignation as party president, the All Progressives Congress (APC) named Senator Abubakar Kyari, the vice president in charge of Northern Nigeria, as the party's acting national leader.


The party's rules state that anytime the incumbent leader steps down, his deputy, who is in charge of the region from where he came, shall take over.


In the midst of tight security, Kyari is currently running the meeting of the party's management committee at its secretariat in Abuja.


The meeting was attended by Salihu Lukman, the deputy chairman of the party in charge of the North-Western zone, Emma Enukwu, the deputy chairman of the party in charge of the Southern region, the Central Muazu Bawa and Issacs Kekemeke for the South West and Ejoroma Arodiogu for the South East, as well as Festus Fuanter, the deputy national secretary of the party.


Kyari was a Borno state politician who served as commissioner from 2003 to 2005 and again from 2007 to 2011.




He was chosen in 2015 to represent Borno North as a senator under the All Progressives Congress (APC), and he was re-elected in 2019. He held this position until he was chosen to serve as the party's deputy chairman for the area. last year in Northern Nigeria.
