Chinese officials decided to deploy a ship to Nigeria in an effort to strengthen ties with the African continent.

On Sunday, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) ship Nanning made a rare visit to Nigeria.

This action is viewed as a significant step by Beijing to strengthen its ties with and influence over Africa.

The Nigerian Navy has stated that it is prepared to cooperate with China to address the insecurity in the Guinea Coast, according to a statement released by the Chinese Embassy on Monday. The Chinese ambassador to Nigeria has called this five-day visit as a significant milestone in ties.

The Weishanhu ship and the Nanning ship, which were joined by the small ship Sanya, arrived off the coast of Lagos on Thursday, according to a statement from the Nigerian Navy.

enduring ties with African nations

One of the nations that exports the most oil to other nations is Nigeria. Nigeria and Angola are two of the African nations that supply China with the most oil. In a similar vein, CNOOC Ltd, the biggest oil corporation in China, is engaged in oil production off the coast of Nigeria.

Nigeria inaugurated a multibillion dollar Chinese port in Lagos in January. 75 percent of the new port in Lekki is owned by Singapore-based Tolaram and China Harbor Engineering Co.
