The Nigerian Police Force will punish its officers who hit a person with a car

Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the acting inspector general of police, has criticized certain police personnel who drove a car and ran over a man on Thursday in Edo state in the south-south of the nation.

The police officers, who are now being held in Edo, have been told to report to the command headquarters in Abuja on Monday so that legal action may be taken against them, according to a statement the command posted on its Twitter page.

In a video that quickly became popular on social media, it was demonstrated how police officers ran after a man who was mistaken for the car's driver and was lying in front of the vehicle, sending the passengers into a panic.

In their statement, the police urged everyone to be calm, especially the residents of Ekpoma Town, and pledged that they would not tolerate any of their officers committing such horrible crimes.
