The policemen who 'hit' someone with a car in Nigeria have been arrested

A man was seen lying on the ground holding an anchor in a social media video that went viral. The police were seen "running over his head" with a car.

The Nigerian Police Force has denounced the "discipline" displayed by some police officers in the southern state of Edo.

In a statement made public, the force condemned a social media video that showed some police officers running over a guy with a car. They have already been detained and have been arrested, according to the police.

In a statement, it was stated that "the Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has denounced the unsettling event when some policemen drove over a citizen with a car on Thursday, June 29, 2023 in Ekpoma, Edo State.

The statement added that the Inspector General of Police had already instructed the officers he referred to as having "bone ears" to report to the police headquarters in Abuja, the nation's capital, so that further action could be taken against them.

An earlier video that was making the rounds on social media showed a police officer trying to run over a man who was lying on the ground wearing an anchor but actually succeeding in doing so.

According to accounts, the man was pulled over by the police for operating a vehicle without a licence plate.

On social media, this incident has received widespread condemnation.
