The Nigerian Army claims to have freed 40 hostages from bandits in Zamfara state.
The inhabitants in Bukkuyum local government of the state were successfully rescued by the military operating under Operation Hadarin Daji.
Following intelligence that the bandits had abducted an unknown number of persons in the villages of Kyairu and Alkama in the Bukkuyum local government, Channels TV announced that the military had been successful.
Following this, the army launched an assault on the town with the aim of conducting a raid to free the citizens who were Tuesday's victims of the bandits.
But the soldiers eventually overwhelmed the gunmen, drove them away from the victims they had abducted, and forced them to depart after fighting them off for several hours.
Ten of the 40 rescued individuals were sent to the King of Gwashi so that he may reconnect them with their families, while the other 40 had already been reunited with their family.
