The warring factions in Sudan have returned to peace talks in Jeddah

According to a government source quoted by the news agency Reuters, representatives of the Sudanese government have arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to resume talks with the RSF representatives with whom they have been engaged in a conflict for more than three months.

Due to their violations of the ceasefire agreement they struck after their respective attacks on one other that resulted in the deaths of civilians, Saudi Arabia and the United States halted the discussions they were organising for the two sides at the beginning of last June.

In an effort to put a stop to the turmoil in the nation, which the United Nations fears may degenerate into the deadliest civil war, Egypt began talks with the parties last Thursday.

Although the parties had previously agreed to a cease-fire, the fight, which has lasted for approximately 4 months and resulted in the deaths of more than 3,000 civilians as well as the eviction of about 3 million people from their homes, has not been able to be put an end to.

Some of the Sudanese refugees in Libya have requested assistance from the UN, particularly because they are having trouble finding a place to stay and caring for the health of those who have been hurt.
