Tinubu appointed someone to investigate the operations of the Central Bank of Nigeria during Emefiele's tenure
The President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has appointed a special investigator to investigate how the Central Bank of Nigeria conducted its operations under its former president, Godwin Emefiele who was suspended.
Daily Trust reports that the president has appointed Jim Osayande Obazee, the chairman of the National Finance Council as the person to lead the investigation.
The letter written by the president said that Obazee will investigate the activities of the CBN and other government-owned financial institutions, and will report directly to the office of the president.
The letter said that the appointment of the investigator is in line with section 15 of paragraph 5 of the Nigerian constitution which enables this government to continue fighting corruption in government agencies, and the appointment is effective immediately.
President Tinubu said that he needs the head of the investigation to regularly present to him the progress made every week.
