Tobi Amusan wins gold at Silesia Diamond League, sets new record
Tobi Amusan, the current world record holder in the 100-meter hurdles, resumed her dominance on Sunday by earning the gold medal at the 2023 Silesia Diamond League in Poland.
She broke the meet record by completing the race in 12.34 seconds.
After Amusan overtook her in a tight battle to the finish line, American Kendra Harrison finished in a close second place.
Nia Ali, the recently won US champion, came in third in 12.38 seconds, followed by Megan Tapper, the Jamaican champion, in 12.40.
Another Jamaican, Danielle Williams, finished fifth in 12.42 seconds.
The legendary sprinter from Nigeria ran the quickest time of the year, matching the personal record of Jasmine Camacho-Quinn.
With the new mark, she moves into first place in the Diamond League rankings, seven points ahead of Camacho-Quinn, who for the first time this season did not compete in a Diamond League event.
Remember that Amusan just won the Diamond League competition in Stockholm, making her triumph in Silesia her second straight win in the league this year as she works towards a third successful championship defense.
