Withdrawal of Subsidy: The Federal Government Will Look at the Possibility of Increasing Workers' Salaries

Godswill Akpabio, the president of the Senate, has reassured Nigerian workers that the government intends to evaluate the prospect of pay raises for staff members to lessen the impact of the elimination of fuel subsidies.

When Abiodun Oyebanji, the governor of the state of Ekiti, and members of the state parliament paid him a courtesy visit, the president of the Senate assured him of this.

Akpabio added that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's decision to eliminate fuel subsidies was made in order to address the issue of corruption in the fuel industry.

If the gasoline subsidy is not eliminated, "Nigeria as a country will not continue to survive," asserts Akpabio, "but the possibility of increasing wages for workers will be looked at to ensure that Nigerians get concessions."

The House of Elders is quite pleased of its delegates in the 10th House, Akpabio explained to the governor.

Abiodun Oyebanji, the governor of Ekiti State, praised the Senate President earlier for the accomplishments he has made in his position over the previous month.

He stated that the people of Ekiti state would do all possible to help him succeed in his role as president of the 10th senate, as well as their intentions to work with the council to advance the nation.
