17 Niger soldiers died as a result of the terrorist attack
The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Niger has announced the death of 17 soldiers, in an ambush that was carried out in an area in the northwest of the country, near the border of Burkina Faso.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of National Defense, it said that the attackers, suspected to be members of groups claiming to be jihadists, opened fire on the soldiers at their camp in Torodi village, when they were on duty.
The announcement also added that during the battle, the soldiers managed to kill many terrorists, after the soldiers who were there were given emergency aid, but still 17 soldiers were lost.
Since 2021, terrorist attacks have become the biggest security challenge that the Republic of Niger is facing, especially on the borders of the country with Mali and Burkina Faso.
