 Boko Haram have released 48 women they sheltered in Borno

At least 48 women who were kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists have been freed in Maiwa and Shuarin villages in Mafa local government in Borno state.

Zagazola Makama, an expert security analyst in the Lake Chad region, announced this move on Thursday, saying the women escaped from the detention center on Wednesday.

Makama confirmed the rescue of the women on his page X which is known as Tiwuta, adding that the Boko Haram members kidnapped the women on August 22, 2023 when they were in their farms.

According to Makama, the women were taken to an unknown place, and after kidnapping them, Boko Haram demanded money from their families.

"The women were released on Wednesday after paying a ransom of N50, 000 each to the terrorists," Masanin testified.

Makama also said that there are 8 women who were released earlier after paying 20,000 naira to each of them.
