BRICS has received 6 new members

The leaders of the BRICS countries, that is the Organization for the Cooperation of Emerging Countries, have invited Saudi Arabia, Iran, Egypt, Argentina and the United Arab Emirates to join them, in a stage of expansion of the group whose goal is to compete in the economic field with its counterparts in the West.

This expansion of the group that its leaders agreed to, will pave the way for other great countries that have shown interest in joining the group that includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa at the same time as factional divisions are pushing China and Russia in developing the group, where it can compete with Western European countries.

The President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, who is hosting this meeting, announced on Thursday that on January 1, 2024, these new countries will be officially accepted.

The debate on more members in the organization dominated the discussions held at the South African Conference, which is taking place in Johannesburg and while all the members supported the expansion of the organization, there was a division on the number of members. will be added and when they will be received

More than 40 countries have expressed their intention to join the BRICS group, according to South African officials, and 22 have submitted official requests.
