EFCC arrested 23 Yahoos in Sokoto
Officials of the Nigerian Anti-Corruption Commission (EFCC) have arrested 23 youths for allegedly scamming people on the internet known as 'Yahoo' in Sokoto state in the north of the country.
The NTA television station quoted the spokesperson of the Sokoto state branch, Kamal Ibrahim, as saying that they arrested the people after receiving secret information about their activities.
The EFCC said its officers have been monitoring the activities of the youths, where they have found that they are living more than what they should be earning in the businesses they claim to manage.
The youths were arrested on Friday evening in the Bafarawa complex in Sokoto town and the Kalkalawa complex in the Kalkalawa area of the state, where they are now in the hands of the commission for further investigation.
The things that the youths were arrested with included two small courts, computers, an electric light generator and 30 mobile phones.
The agency said that it will present them before the court as soon as it completes the investigation on them.
