Ganduje is the sign of withdrawing the name of Maryam Shetty from the Nigerian ministers
The former governor of Kano state in Nigeria, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje is the one who withdrew the name of Maryam Shetty from the list of people that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu wants to appoint as ministers, while he replaced her with Dr. Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure as revealed by Daily Trust.
The newspaper reported that a senior official in the presidential palace inserted her name in the list of Tinubu's ministers, while the palace thought that with the knowledge of Ganduje, the name of Maryam was given from Kano state.
Ganduje's close friends told Daily Trust that the main reason why Ganduje showed his power until Maryam was replaced by Bunkure was that she was not among the former governor's political circle and she criticized his policies when he was governor.
In addition, Shetty is very close to the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, where she even criticized Ganduje's government for removing the Emir from power, which some sources stated as one of the reasons for withdrawing her name.
Daily Trust reported that President Tinubu was very surprised after learning that it was not Ganduje who proposed Shetty's name, where the people who voted for her showed the president a photo she took with the former governor to show that, she is with him.
Shetty has already embraced this change with both hands, saying that this is what God has planned, while she also wished Tinubu's government good wishes and congratulations.
Since it was announced that she is on the list of people that Tinubu will appoint ministers in his government, citizens especially from the northern region have been debating about her skills or qualifications, where some congratulated her, while others she is not at all worthy of this position.
