The President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, like his predecessor Muhammadu Buhari, has stated that he is ready to lead the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and the new Ministry of Natural Gas Resources.

President Tinubu has appointed his ministers, more than a week after they were vetted by the Senate. Former Governor of Rivers Nyesom Wike was appointed Minister of the Federal Capital Territory while Wale Edun became the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Economic Affairs. Some of the top ministries include Professor Ali Pate, as the health and welfare manager, and Lateef Fagbemi as the federal attorney general and minister of justice.

Former governor of Jigawa Mohammed Badaru was appointed as minister of defense while former governor of Kebbi Atiku Bagudu became minister of budget and planning.

However, the president did not appoint ministers to lead the ministries of gas and oil resources. Although he did not state that he intends to hold the position of Minister of Petroleum directly, the failure to appoint someone to this position indicates that President Tinubu is seeking to hold the position. Nigerians are waiting whether the President of the country will change the way he walks or the leadership of his predecessor Buhari at this time when the people are facing the cost of living.
