 Mali has stopped issuing visas to French nationals

Mali has stopped issuing visas to French citizens at its embassy in Paris and at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

A statement from the country said that the move is in retaliation for declaring Mali in the areas that are dangerous to enter.

"We are surprised that France has declared Mali among the areas that are at risk of entry".

At the beginning of this week, France stopped issuing visas to Malians and closed its visa office in Bamako, the capital of Mali.

The conflict between the two countries originated from the military coup against the president of Niger, Mohamed Bazoum, two weeks ago.

The military governments in Mali, Burkina Faso and Guinea have all expressed their support for the coup, and have warned against taking military action against the forces that overthrew the government in Niger.
