Nigerian immigrants from Libya have been brought back
AFP reports that 161 Nigerians have been repatriated from Libya in a voluntary program supported by the United Nations.
They arrived on a flight from Tripoli to Lagos International Airport on Monday.
Among those returned are 75 women and six children who were held in detention centers in Libya.
The Minister of the Interior stated that 102 people were stopped from those who were sent back home on the border between Libya and Tunisia.
Libya has been a major route for African migrants to cross the Black Sea to Europe illegally.
An official at the Nigerian embassy in Libya confirmed to the AFP news agency that the migrants chose to return home of their own free will, without being forced.
He also stated that those who returned there were satisfied to return to Nigeria, because "there is no place to live like home."
