Prominent Islamic scholar Dr. Ismail Surty, passed away in the UK
May God bless the famous Islamic teacher Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Hafiz Ismail Surty.
He was described as a father, lover, grandfather, and great teacher, in a statement issued by Bashir Gwandu in Abuja on Wednesday.
The statement said that Dr. Surty's death has left his loved ones and the rest of the community in mourning.
Dr. Surty was a man highly respected for his compassionate nature and the way he conducted his life.
He used to lead prayers at the Birmingham Great Mosque and the Birmingham University Mosque.
He was also a Professor at the University of Birmingham.
Here in Nigeria, he is the presenter of the popular television program called 'Islamic Light'.
He also worked in Sokoto TV in the 1980s.
His funeral will be held at 1:45 in the afternoon at the Great Mosque of Birmingham at 180 Belgrave Middleway in England.
