The Coolidge Scholarship is a full-ride presidential scholarship that is offered every year to undergraduate students. It pays for all living expenses throughout the four years of study, including tuition housing, and board.
You can use this unique scholarship at any U.S. college or university that has been accredited.
ABOUT THE COOLIDGE SCHOLARSHIP
Applications are not currently being accepted for the 2023–24 Coolidge Scholarship, which is available to juniors in high school who will graduate in the spring of 2025. However, the application will be available in the autumn of 2023.
The Coolidge Scholarship is a full-ride presidential scholarship that is offered every year to undergraduate students. It pays for all living expenses throughout the four years of study, including tuition housing, and board. Recipients may utilize the Coolidge at any US college or university that has been accredited. Anyone can apply to this nonpartisan, need-blind program, regardless of background or academic field of study.
In their junior year of high school, students submit an application for the Coolidge Scholarship. The Coolidge Historic Site in Plymouth Notch, Vermont, hosts a finalist weekend for finalists, during which they are flown in to interview with the Coolidge Scholars Finalist Jury. Late in their junior year, recipients of the Coolidge Scholarship receive word of their award prior to submitting an application for college (note: current high school seniors are not allowed to apply). A smaller, one-time college scholarship is available to finalists who have not chosen Coolidge Scholars.
Academic excellence was Calvin Coolidge's only pastime; as a young New Englander, he spoke in public frequently, usually on public policy. Thus, intellectual achievement is the primary factor that sets Coolidge Scholars apart. The following are secondary requirements: a clear interest in public policy; an understanding of the principles Coolidge promoted; and a commitment to service and humility.
Newly selected Coolidge Scholars spend three orientation days at the President's scenic birthplace in Plymouth Notch, Vermont, during the summer preceding their senior year of high school. There, academics learn about Coolidge and his surroundings and support the Coolidge Foundation in managing its competitive debate initiatives. When attending college, scholars spend a week-long summer vacationing in Plymouth Notch.
A hundred of the most deserving applicants for Coolidge Scholarships are dubbed "Coolidge Senators," despite the fact that only a small number of students are named Coolidge Scholars each year. Every summer in Washington, D.C., Coolidge Senators are invited—all expenses paid—to attend the Senators Summit. The Senators get to know other bright students from around the nation, see the nation's capital, and discover more about President Coolidge during their time at the Summit.
