The flood destroyed hundreds of farms and agricultural products in Niger
Even before the arrival of the monsoon, the Meteorological Agency of Nigeria has warned of floods in many local governments of the country including those of Niger states.
Hundreds of farms and crops have been destroyed in the state of Niger, Nigeria due to the floods that have affected some local governments.
This issue has put thousands of farmers in a state of tension and fear of getting more food shortage this year.
Even before the arrival of the monsoon, the Nigerian Meteorological Agency has warned of floods in many local governments of the country including Niger State.
Thursday Shehu Yusuf Galadima, the Chairman of the United Farmers Union of Niger State, said that they have lost millions of Naira as a result of the floods that destroyed the maize and rice fields.
The Niger State Emergency Relief Agency has also said that it has not finished assessing the number of farms affected by the floods, according to the acting director of the agency in Niger State, Malam Garba Salihu.
Also, the Relief Agency said that there is a possibility of more floods in the future, so people should be careful, said Malam Garba Salihu.
