The NDLEA arrested illegal drugs worth 56.9 million naira and 343 people in Abuja
The NDLEA stated that from January to August, they seized illegal drugs amounting to 56.9 million naira and weighing 3,091.032 kg in the Federal Capital, Abuja.
The head of the agency, Kabir Tsakuwa, announced this on Wednesday while meeting with the News Agency of Nigeria NAN in Abuja.
Tsakuwa said the illegal drugs seized by the agency include marijuana, narcotics, methamphetamine, tramadol, rohypnol, diazepam, ecstasy and megadon.
He said that during this period, the agency arrested 343 drug traffickers, including 328 men and 15 women.
Of the number of people arrested by the agency, 188 people were brought to court, of which the court sentenced 126 people.
Tsakuwa said that from January until now, the agency is treating 33 people who are suffering from mental problems and the agency has released 102 people who have confirmed that they have recovered from such problems.
He said the agency will join hands with other security forces to arrest drug addicts and traffickers in Abuja.
