The Republic of Niger is facing an increase in the price of goods
The price of food products has increased in the city of Agadas, in the north of Niger, a few days after the ECOWAS or CEDEAO imposed economic sanctions on the country.
A few days after the ECOWAS Economic Development Organization (ECOWAS) imposed economic sanctions on the Republic of Niger due to the coup by the military, the price of daily necessities has skyrocketed. The people of Niger, especially Agadas state in the north of the country, are in a difficult situation due to the lack of money they are suffering from.
Before the CEDEAO imposed sanctions on Niger, the citizens of the country were buying a bag of rice for 10,000 CFA, but now the price is increasing where in some places the rice is being bought for 16,000 CFA.
In reality, the prices of almost all the daily necessities continue to rise due to the fact that traders are hiding their goods in order to get low profits.
Since then, the small traders have entered into a situation of misery, especially after they understand the difficult situation they will find themselves in.
Musa Sabitu, the head of small traders in Agadas, said that their small traders mostly come to Nigeria to buy goods but the closing of the border after the overthrow of the government by President Mohammed Bazoum has hindered them.
Economic experts like Mamman Sani, I think this problem will affect the poor and cripple the economy of Niger.
Niger is dependent on Nigeria and the Republic of Benin to import its goods for daily needs.
