Kagame of Rwanda forced the retirement of 83 senior soldiers
A few hours after the military coup in Gabon, President Paul Kagame announced reforms to the Ministry of National Defense which led to the forced retirement of some senior officials.
The statement published by the Rwanda Defense Forces on its X page, known as Twitter, said that the retirement of 83 senior military officers.
The statement said, the president has already promoted some junior officers to replace those who have been retired.
The 65-year-old President Paul Kagame, who has been in power since 2000, in 2015 made an amendment to the constitution that allowed him to continue in power until 2034.
This action by President Kagame comes a day after the military-led coup in Gabon that ended the 53-year rule of the Bongo family in the oil-rich country.
