Nigeria's First Accountant Akintola Williams Passes Away
Williams, 104 years old, passed away in his sleep early this morning, Monday, September 11th.
D. C. - Williams is better known as Doyen, an accountant in Nigeria, and he played a great role in the development of the country's financial industry.
Williams studied accounting at the University of London and became a Chartered Accountant in 1947.
After returning to Nigeria in 1952, he established his own accounting firm, Akintola Williams & Co., now known as Deloitte & Touche.
He was the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) from 1963 to 1965 and was one of its founders.
