Taraba Governor's Electoral Court: Under Pressure, INEC Declares Results, Re-Review of Election - NNPP

The Taraba State Governorship Election Court sitting in Jalingo has set a date to decide on the case filed by the NNPP candidate, Professor Sani Yahya, challenging the victory of Governor Agbu Kefas, PDP in the 2023 election.

The General Counsel of the NNPP, Barista Ibrahim Isiyaku (SAN), asked for a review of the results of the election where he stressed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the results of the election based on fear and coercion.

The court has set a date to decide after receiving the complaint documents and evidence from both parties.

Barista Ibrahim Isiyaku (SAN), alleged that there was misidentification of voters during the election in some polling booths, rigging of votes and change of election results, among other mistakes.

He reiterated that, based on these errors found during the election, he gave them the opportunity to go to court to cancel the election results.

Barista Isiyaku added that since the beginning, the Electoral Commission in the state has acknowledged in its reports that the election process has faced the challenge of violence as a result of gunfire by the soldiers and the police.

Also speaking to the press, INEC's lawyer, Barrister Emeka Okoro, said that they told the court that the NNPP did not present any solid evidence to substantiate its complaints. Therefore, they requested the court to dismiss the case brought before it by the NNPP party.
