The president of Senegal appointed the country's Prime Minister as a candidate for the presidency in the country's general election next year, after he expressed his unwillingness to run for a third term.
The President of Senegal Macky Sall on Saturday declared Prime Minister Amadou Ba as the candidate of the ruling party in the presidential election to be held in 2024.
Macky Sall, who took power in 2012 and was re-elected in 2019, announced after months of political uncertainty that he will not seek a third term to eliminate problems related to governance.
His ruling party in the country gave him the opportunity to choose his successor.
