UEFA has confirmed that Russia will re-enter the U17 European Championship for the first time since the country invaded Ukraine 19 months ago.
The European Football Association said that boys and girls should not be punished for what adults do.
UEFA has banned all Russian clubs from European competitions since its invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Also, the commission canceled the right to host the 2022 European Champions Cup and the 2023 Super Cup, which should be held in Saint Petersburg and Kazan, and canceled the sponsorship contract with the energy company Gazprom.
The UEFA Executive Committee has asked the management of the agency to advise on the methods that should be followed to allow the teams to return to the under-17 league.
According to the committee, the games will not be played in Russia, and the teams will not be allowed to wear the national jersey, show their flag or sing the national anthem.
The final of the European Championship for men under 17 will be played in Cyprus next year, while the women's competition will be held in Sweden in May of this year.
