Asthma continues to spread in Nigeria
Since the outbreak of Mashako disease in December 2022 in Nigeria, the country has been following ways to prevent its spread, but now it is becoming a concern for the health authorities.
Currently, 11,587 people are feared to have contracted the disease while 7,202 people in 105 local governments from 18 states across the country have been confirmed to have contracted the disease, where the disease has killed 453 people in Nigeria. .
73 percent of those infected are children from 1 to 14 years old.
Kano state is one of the states where the disease is the worst, other states include Yobe, Katsina, Borno, Kaduna, Jigawa, Bauchi, Lagos, FCT, Gombe, Osun, Sokoto, Niger, Cross River, Enugu, Imo, Nasarawa and Zamfara state.
The Director of Research and Statistics of the First Level Health Authority in Abuja, Dr Abdullahi Bulama Garba, said that their authority and other stakeholders in the health sector have taken all measures to prevent the spread of the disease where the prevention of the disease has already started in some states.
On his part, Dr. Lawal Musa Tahir, of the Nizamiye Hospital in Abuja, said that bronchitis starts with flu and fever and emphasized the danger of the disease and advised to take precautionary measures.
