The Hamas fighters who are in power in the Gaza Strip have launched an unprecedented attack on Israel, where they fired hundreds of rockets at various locations in Israel.
This is coming at the same time that many Hamas fighters infiltrated into Israel through the border which has strict security measures in many places, and attacked the country of Israel.
The Reuters news agency said that at least 200 Israelis were killed, while more than 1,100 others were injured as a result of various gun clashes in more than 20 locations in Israel.
Hospitals in Israel are treating hundreds of injured people, including many who are in critical condition.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Israel was "at war" and called for a massive military mobilization.
Netanyahu said that Israel will retaliate strongly against Hamas, which immediately started firing weapons into Gaza.
Hamas Vice President Saleh al-Arouri told Al Jazeera that the group is holding a large number of Israelis it has captured, including high-ranking officials.
He said that Hamas has enough people that it is detaining, that they will make Israel release all the Palestinians that it is detaining in prisons.
